Earth,Wind & Fire Japan Tour 2025

On April 20th, I went to see the Earth, Wind & Fire Japan Tour at Pia Arena MM.

This time, Nile Rodgers and Chic were the guests, so it was a great opportunity to see two big groups live at once.

This was my first time at Pia Arena, but it was a large venue with seating up to the fourth floor.

I was sitting on the left side of the stage on the second floor.

First off, CHIC's live performance.

It's a bit tiring to watch stand-up from the first song...

There were a lot of songs I knew.

And Nile Rodgers has written hit songs for many artists.

Nile's soulful voice and the power of the female vocals were worth listening to.

However, although Pia Arena is a fine facility...

it was a bit disappointing that the sound seemed to echo off the walls and distort.

It was a wonderful performance.

After about an hour, there was a break to change the stage set.
I went to smoke a cigarette, but the line was all the way up the stairs, so it took quite a while.
The EWF live starts.
Songs are played little by little with past album jackets in the background.
And then the EWF members appear.
This time, Verdine White is absent due to medical treatment.
This is the first EWF live without him.
They play old classics with different arrangements.
This time around, I feel like Davit Whitworth and Philip Bairy Jr. are taking on more lead roles.
It seems like they're now taking on the parts previously sung by Mourice White.

I wanted to take a photo too, but it seems unfair...

You Want My Love feat. Lucky Daye

Although the introduction has been delayed for a long time, the new work of Earth, Wind & Fire has been released after a long time. You Want My Love feat. Lucky Daye Lucky Daye, a hot new singer who has been nominated for four categories including the 2020 Grammy Award for Best R & B Song and R & B Album Award. EWF have appointed him as the lead vocalist for the famous song "Can't Hide Love". A song that was released as a single in 1976 and reached No. 11 on the US Billboard Hot Soul Songs chart and No. 39 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is recorded in "Gratitude" in the album. The long-awaited CD has been released! Little Glee Monster has grown into a leading Japanese girl vocal group .
Their new song features our Earth, Wind & Fire!
They were the undercards of the last time the EWF came to Japan and performed a concert at Budokan.

In that case, I do not know their existence ...
Surprise to sing the famous song "Septenmber" together ...
In this performance, I shot this video ...

It's an incredibly popular group! New songs featuring EWF.
Many EWF members have collaborated with Japanese artists,

Ralph Jonson with Hiromi Iwasaki,

However, there were few examples in the past that feature and release with the entire EWF group.

My Life With Earth,Wnd & Fire

MY LIFE WITH EARTH,WIND & FIRE / Maurice White

It took me a month to finish reading,
as I have not made it a habit.

At first it took a while to read,but after 100 page,
I follow the page I am excited about the episode with EWF members and well-known superstars I wanted to secure time to read quickly · · ·

I felt that way. The first black band that changed the history of music.
Its history and energy gave you power I believe.

When thinking that such a leader, Maurice does not exist in this world anymore・・・
I am very lonely though ...
The music he left behind and the various influences are engraved numerous and deeply in history.

Please read this book and get to know the origin of EWF.
And the message Maurice wanted to tell. Except some disco music, EWF's music is great message from outer space. That way I recognize it.

A strong step-up message like the world coach, Anthony Robbins !
They send us with music. One book I would like to read by those who are not EWF fans.

Funky Wonderland　/　Earth, Wind & Fire　（2008）

DVD product that contains the live performance at the 2008 Chili.

At that time, Kim Johnson participated , I felt it gorgeous to listen to their chorus with female member.

Philip Bailey lead the performance on the center,.

and B David Whitworth also played a major role!

The camera was chasing only 3 of the original members,

Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Ralph Johnson.
There was dissatisfied point for me coz I really love all the members of EWF.

Cavalcade of hit songs!

Hundreds of times would have been listened , but these songs never get us tired.

Also attractive arrangement was changing.

Interlude that connects the songs, solo play at the time of the member referral・・・

There were really cool!

For me,this DVD became in one important thing to watch on a regular basis in the future.

Electric Universe (Expanded Edition)

Electric Universe (Expanded Edition) （2015）

This album might be the posthumous work of Maurice White.

Maurice intended this album as an album which reaches the present young people instead of the mere past repackage.

It was an experimental album that electric sound was taken in on a large scale, though with the phones of Andlew Wolfolk,.
I really love this album!

The tracks were added to this Expanded Edition , eight trucks to the original.

Since the number of original was eight, this had double contents.

Different Version of "Magnetic" which is the highlight music of an album were three kinds.

The sound source of first public presentation were five .

12 and 13 were demo version of album inclusion music.

I was surprised with the chorus portion of the "Were Living in Our Own Time"
Low voices of chorus were added to the demo instead of high-pitched sound.

Furthermore, the last three music was precious music first exhibited in this album.
All 3 music were written by Maurice White.

At Last...The Duets Album

At Last...The Duets Album／Kenny G (2004)

This is the duet album of saxophonist Kenny G who keeps on releasing many hits with instrumental .

He performed many of famous pieces of music with many gorgeous artists in this album.

Earth，Wind & Fire participated in ”The Way You Move”originally recorded by Outcast.

Kenny and EWF changed this wild number to the sweet slow love song.

I suppose that you know well this song because it is collected to album (Illumination) of EWF as a bonus track.

It differs little when you compare both "The Way You Move" of the album of EWF and Kenny G.

Kenny's Version is 4.06 minutes while the total of the tune is 4.36 minutes in EWF Version.

The length of the tune is different for as many as 30 seconds.

Give It Check and Sing Like This

It starts with cool instruction at opening in Kenny's version, however, it starts after some measures in EWF version .

Numerical bar has been inserted in the head of the tune .

In the last parts of the song to fade, we can enjoy the voice of EWF longer ｉｎ.EWF Version .

Even if you are not EWF fan, this album is worthy to have.

Reggie Young and Gary Bias also participated as EWF Horns besides Maurice White and

Sweet Sweetbach's Baadasssss Song

Sweet Sweetbach's Baadasssss Song (1971)

The soundtrack album which they released after" Earth,Wind & Fire ".

The movie music of the same name which Melvin Van Peebles produced.
This film made a smashing success focusing on a black layer for independence distribution those days.
Though I haven't watched this yet.

It had been criticized severely to the press when a white man wrote an article.

It would be from the color of the work. There was big movement in music. I feel strong energy.

Because most of this music were written and sung by Mel Vin Brer Soul who produced this film,
It cannot be said that this soundtrack is of the Earth,Wind & Fire's work purely.
But their power of sound surely added more power to this story, I guess.

Music had a motion. also strong energy.

This was the 139th place (19 weeks chart in) where as initial work of EWF was the 172nd place in U.S. chart.

The member of EWF was the lover of Prisia ( former secretary of Mel Vin in those days)
（was it Maurice?）.

That was because EWF had a chance to participate to this sound track having been correct him and intellect through her.

But EWF does not seem to matter about this music that the third piece "Come On Feet".

It was recorded in" Aint Supposed To Die A Natural Death" which Mel Vin produced in 69.
It sounds to be the same take.

This item was published in Japan as a set of book with CD.

The precious record which explained the story of a movie, and its background with the photograph.

The dialog of the movie was also in featured by text both in original and in Japanese translation.

This CD includes rare version of Brazilian Rhyme that everyone has never listened .

Long version of Brazilian Rhyme with unknown scat melodies.

Melody with lyrics leads before famous chorus.
It makes me happy when I listen to this tune!

Dance Dance Dance /　Earth, Wind & Fire (1983)

The legendary EWF song was released at last as Mp3 download sale.
This song was featured in the Canadian Animation movie "Rock & Rule"

1983 Canadian animated musical science fiction fantasy film from the animation studio Nelvana.

It was the world where human beings got extinct by nuclear explosion .

Angel, the singer with the voice of a miracle were kidnaped.
Her friends got fight in order to save her.

Story moved with many gorgeous music backside performed by EWF, Cheap Trik,
Deborah Ann Harry and more.

Since we can listen to this music at youtube or others,
for me, it is the work already so familiar to my ears .
However, since sound effects were newly added,
I could feel in the mood of fresh.

The latest album for the first time in seven years!
No matter how much my having longed for this time !

19 pieces of collecting that the Japanese version has more two pieces than an original edition. (a copy control CD)
As for "All In The Way" done single cut of, Wanda Vaughn of Emotions and Maurice is in charge of Lead Vocal.
The collaboration of their voices is so nice!

Latin music "NEVER"(rare for ewf) is the music that was suitable in summer .
Hold Me and" Betcha'" of the love song flutter a heart.

And it is "Suppose You Like Me" to be nicer for me!

There is a name of Jerry Hey as Horn Arrange.

The old and the new splendid members performance!

It is the first time with the album of EWF that Maurice didn't produce,

A participation artist is luxurious.

The visit to Japan performance of this next was unusually new songs on parade for them.

Pure Gold is a very message-colored strong song,
and" Love's Dance" and "This Is How I Feel" makes us to dance unintentionally.

To You which Brian McKnight and Maurice sing is hommage of" Love's Holiday".
Harmony is connected with a beautiful melody.

The Way You Move with Kenny G and Maurice White became the wonderful song entirely different from the original piece of music.

Music order, the number of the music are different, and there is the track which is not recorded in each.
When Love Goes Wrong" is not collected in "Avatar".
This is a beautiful ballad to remind of "After The Love Has Gone".
In one another "Avatar", two pieces of" Change Your Mind" and "Take You To Heaven"are only as for this album.
Love Is Life is re-recording of music recorded in debut album" EARTH, WIND &FIRE" .
I think that they chose the music of the debut album being aware of new life EWF daringly.

Contains such as essesal songs in live,”Kalimba Tree"”Wanna Be With You".
It is an album of the wonderful result!

I love”Fall In Love With Me"”Side By Side"、"Miracles"are also my fovorite！
One piece that is the ecstasy that a feeling of speed and presence of mind are provided at the same time.

In fact, I love it though it may not be a good album of much reputation among the Japanese EWF fans!
The reason is because an image of Maurice to a newer sound differed to some extent that a past EWF fan expects it, and quality does not have the problem at all!
Though it is unprecedented futuristic melody, the voice of Maurice goes along with it well.

Because I had bought this album carelessly, I have fallen.
A black hole to EWF CRAZY!
This is the best album for me.
A new work for the first time in those days six years. These ten pieces of all is messages to the modern society for adult .

Contains "Thinking Of You""System Of Survival""Evil Roy"
The fourth piece "You And I" has a heart numb.
A voice of Philip lets people knowing all love melt away.

The EWF first BEST version!
Contains "Got To Get To Into Your Life""Love Music""September" which is not collected in an original album.
The best album having a new song is fun!

★　I Am （1979）

Contains famous ballad "”After The Love Has Gone"written by David Foster, Jay Gradon ,Bill Champlin.
Also contains ”Boggie Wonderland "with Emotions""In The Stone"
The album which wears well even if I listen to it how many times.

Holiday

Holiday / Earth,Wind & Fire (2014)

I was surprised 3 times.

Firstly ,when I knew this news that Earth,Wind & Fire was going to release a Christmas album.

Secondly, when I hear some Japanese sentence from the standard for kids"Yukiya konnkonn"

Thirdly , when my soul was so moved to dance with funky cover "Winter Wonderland "

Anyway this is the historical issue of EWF.
Who imagined that EWF released season album?

EWF arranged traditional tunes in the style of EWF and added holy and funky.

Special Event starts with "Joy to the World " full of the live feeling featuring a shout of Philip.
"Somebody Clap Your Hands"
I felt like being in front of stage covered with Christmas Illumination.

There included 2 songs of EWF.
"Happy Seasons "(Happy Feelin') and "December (September)
I wondered how these great songs change before I listened to...
But I got disapointed.

They only put the portion of "Happy Season' into "Happy Feelin'" as the portions of September were changed into December.

These 2 songs should not be featured, I thought.

The CM music which changed "System of Survival" into the Coca Cola,
That was further fresher.

However, I really got satisfied with other songs.
They were beautiful and surprising enough to spend wonderful season.

Especially. "Winter Wonderland "
During the season last year, this song was always on played in my brain.

I've been so lucky that I could get this Delightful compilation album !

This was great present for EWF fans like me
who collect the items which members of EWF joined.

Although it is in a title with "THE SPIRIT OF EARTH WIND & FIRE",
original music of EWF were not featured at all.

The rare works that the members of EWF participated were taken up.

As I expected, many members of Earth and Wind & Fire had participated in.

I supposed that was this!
The album John Paris told me at the backstage of Japan Tour.
Saying many menbers of EWF was going to attend the album of the initial"L"artist.

However, it is regrettable that John Paris ,who taught the information, had not participated.

Many sounds with a cool and sufficient parenthesis which incorporated vocal music moderately .
I really got excited !
