Earth,Wind & Fire Japan Tour 2025

On April 20th, I went to see the Earth, Wind & Fire Japan Tour at Pia Arena MM.
This time, Nile Rodgers and Chic were the guests, so it was a great opportunity to see two big groups live at once.

This was my first time at Pia Arena, but it was a large venue with seating up to the fourth floor.

I was sitting on the left side of the stage on the second floor.

First off, CHIC's live performance.

It's a bit tiring to watch stand-up from the first song...

There were a lot of songs I knew.

And Nile Rodgers has written hit songs for many artists.

Nile's soulful voice and the power of the female vocals were worth listening to.

However, although Pia Arena is a fine facility...

it was a bit disappointing that the sound seemed to echo off the walls and distort.

The last song was sung by Philip Bailey of EWF.
Not only did they sing CHIC originals, but they also performed hits by David Bowie, Diana Ross, Madonna, and others...
It was a wonderful performance.

After about an hour, there was a break to change the stage set.
I went to smoke a cigarette, but the line was all the way up the stairs, so it took quite a while.
The EWF live starts.
Songs are played little by little with past album jackets in the background.
And then the EWF members appear.
This time, Verdine White is absent due to medical treatment.
This is the first EWF live without him.
They play old classics with different arrangements.
This time around, I feel like Davit Whitworth and Philip Bairy Jr. are taking on more lead roles.
It seems like they're now taking on the parts previously sung by Mourice White.

 Earth,Wind & Fire Japanese Singles Collection (2020)  

The artist's single songs vary from country to country. 

 Earth, Wind & Fire is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. 

Collection set of single songs released in Japan has been released. 

2 CDs and 1DVD. 

Two thick booklets are included, one of which is a lineup of single jackets from Japan. 

The design of the early days makes us feel the times. 

Notably, the full version of Brazilian Rhyme was recorded on CD for the first time. 

And the promotion video of 4 songs were recorded on the DVD for the first time. First, "Brazilian Rhyme". 

I'm grateful for the longer playing time because it always makes me want to listen more. 

When I listen to EWF's hit songs with the passage of time after a long time ... 

Once again, I am amazed at the high degree of perfection. 

The arrangements and choruses are all meticulously assembled in every detail. 

Further DVD. "Wanna Be The Man" I watched this for the first time. 

* It's not a cool finish, but ... 

 It's been a while since I saw Maurice White's "I Need You" video and felt it. 

I didn't think when I first saw it ... 

There were multiple beautiful women in this video. 

However, when the lyrics are superimposed ... 

It seems that the main character is reaching out to multiple women ... 

Shouldn't it be better to narrow down the heroine to one person? 

 Anyway, I think it's a must-have collection for fans.

Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury Festival (2016)

The Glastonbury Festival is a large-scale outdoor music festival that has been held in Pilton, England since 1970.

A live performance featuring Earth, Wind & Fire in 2016 is on sale on DVD.

The performance with a new arrangement added to the standard masterpiece is wonderful!

Other famous songs are inserted in the middle of the song ...

The vocals of B David Whitworth and Philip Bailey Jr. are featured in many of these works ...

You can feel the new wave of EWF.

In addition, Ralph Johnson's solo (Got To Get You In My Life), which I haven't heard much until now, is a great performance for fans.

 The long-awaited CD has been released! Little Glee Monster has grown into a leading Japanese girl vocal group .
Their new song features our Earth, Wind & Fire!
They were the undercards of the last time the EWF came to Japan and performed a concert at Budokan.

In that case, I do not know their existence ...
Surprise to sing the famous song "Septenmber" together ...
 In this performance, I shot this video ...

It's an incredibly popular group! New songs featuring EWF.

However, there were few examples in the past that feature and release with the entire EWF group.

Earth,Wind & Fire Japan Tour 2017

Earth,Wind & Fire Japan tour 2017 started at Osaka Festival Hall, May 20th.

I was so excited seeing them again/

The Members of Earth,Wind & Fire!

Before the concert,

I visited the  hotel  they stayed at with the Japanese friend who had worked with them.

Waiting in the lobby about 20 minutes, the members came down.

My friends who first met with them for the first time were in a dreamlike state that seem to be stunned.

A friend's little daughter started crying poorly at that timing, 

but  David B Whitworth tryed to stop her crying with gentle smile and voice.

How kind  members of EWF are!

Although it is just a little time, I really enjoyed talking and talking with them!

So Happy Time for us !

I really thanks to them!

5 hours later at Osaka festival Hall.

Brrilliant performance started on the stage.

Although the set list was almost same as the shows in 2016.

Their sounds and vibrations that I felt in the same space met the time with the utmost happy mood.

Live perfor,mance of Earth,Wind & Fire raised the curtain at last!
BLUE NOTE JAZZ FESTIVAL held by Yokohama red brick on the last Saturday.

Featuring Earth,Wind & Fire, Georege Benson, Marcus Miller.
 Andra Day and MISIA appeared fromJapan.

I am the  EWF fan of course, but I'm also a fan of George Benson.
I also wanted to expriense of Marcus Miller !

So It was so amazing music event like being arraneged for me.

The dat before tihs, I went to the live of EWF.

It's in a step destination on the previous day in Studio Coast in Shin-kiba.
I satisfied with EWF live
Though it's seat A was  at the far  distance to the stage  than yesterday's standing. live.


Progress and a set list were almost same as the previous day....
The number of songs decreased for a short while.

But, the valuable performance was exsisutanced only at this day
The thing that reae corraboration.



After the 6th number, "Serpentine Fire".
Philip Bailey did inform the special for the first time only at this day!

Marcus Miller.

He battled with each base to Verdine White!
Like Verdin did with Mo Pleasure before.

Earth,Wind & Fire @ Studio Coast

I was waitting for this time.
When I could see the performance of Earth,Wind & Fire.

It was held ,last friday at Studio Coast in Shinkiba,Japan.

Many fans gethered there and enjoyed their play.

There was a large screen behind the stage, where various images were projected on.

When that picuture was projected on the wall, I was almost tears.

33rd Annual Christmas In Washington

I found in the excited video of Earth,Wind & Fire performing their Christmas songs.

Earth,Wind & Fire released their first Christmas album "Holiday" last year, you know.

This year, they did add 5songs to that album
after renaming the tittle ,"The Classic Christmas Album"

 However, these official music video, any member of the EWF has appeared.
Stitched together a Christmas image.

This was EXCITED to  me.
I could check the scene of their playing "Winter Wonderland" and "December"

This was recorded at the stage of 33rd Annual Christmas in Washington.

I was so excited to get this album.

The Salty Peppers is the roots of EWF that 

Maurice White formed during his activities of Ramsey Lewis Trio.

The original members of Earth,Wind & Fire

when they released their first album as EWF.

First single "La La Time"it made peop;e to know them .

Next, They released 2nd single "Uh Huh Yeah"

Having taken in style with singing  like YEAH or LALA ,mainly rather than meaningful words.

I felt like it roots of later Earth,Wind & Fire sound.

Although it is the album released about 45 years ago, I don't feel these sound old.

Is it because I am a big fan? 

I accept overflowing power and a message from those songs.

I realized the interesting fact when I first listen to this album about one song.

"Your Love Is Life"

This song is featured in this album.

That means this song was recorded 3 times at their original album.

It was published firstly at this album as The Salty Peppers.

2nd time ,Earth,Wind & Fire performed at this first album.

3rd time ,this song was played with new members at "In The Name Of Love"

I suppose that this song has something special meaning for Maurice White.

Classic Christmas Album

The Classic Christmas Album　/ Earth,Wind & Fire （2015）

Last year, Earth and Wind & Fire  released the Christmas Album at first time for their carrier.

I heard the news that they also released special album this year.

And I got it in my hands.

Some precious sound source were contained, these not recorded in their original album .
This album is not a new one.

It is special edition of "Holiday"featuring  bonus tracks.

After this Christmas album released, Who is going to buy last album "Holiday"?

But it was happy for me to know song that I didn't have in my EWF library.
Songs added to this album were the following .

Commercials  song produced for the Target ,American Super chain .
This song  was on a collaboration album called "Sounds Of The Season" in 2005.

●　Get Your Hump on This Christmas (From The Cleveland Show)

Collaboration with "Cleveland Show"the character of spin-off " Family Guy"broadcast in the United States FOX.
This song was released in only Mp3 download in 2009.


●　I Asked For A Miracle (God Gave Me You)

This is the only song that I don't have source in my EWF library.
It was in  ” Legendary ” of Full Force in 2007.
Beautiful voice of Philip Bailey lead holy tune.
To have met this song, I was so happy to buy this album.


●　Open Your Heart to Love

The solo single of Maurice White  at first time after he released his solo album "Maurice White" After release by Mp3 downloads sales, It was featured in Season album "'Tis The Season"in 1997.


●　One World

 Hit song writers in US and Russia carried out collaboration  at first time in 1988.
"Music Speaks Louder Than Word" was full of message of peace.

It is the DVD of live performance done in Yoyogi Olimpic Pool ,Japan in 1994.
Live started from appeappearance like gramary show with opening tune of Bill Meyers composition.
It got excited.

Medley of hit songs makes enerybody dance and shake!
It was rolled in the whirlpool of the excitement at once ･･･.
It was glad to see sing in the stage where Maurice White and Philip Bailey are still the same.
(It is also glad again that we have Sheldon Reynolds and Sonny E there. )
In live of EWF, it is a charm to make it new arrange the familiar music to fresh version.
I love to listen to the long version of standard number.

Though the CG images of flowing space was good-looking.,the fan wanted to experience the whole live without any cut!
Total time of DVD was too short comparing ｔｈｅ with the real live!

However, 'Cause live was performed ten more years before , members of EWF were young!
The body of Philip Bailey was still slim.

I think that this is the only film that we can see the performance of "Would' t Change A Thing About You ".
